Course Overview

This course explores how mechanical systems are designed, manufactured and applied to solve real-world engineering challenges. You will gain a strong understanding of core engineering principles while developing practical experience through project work and applied learning.

Throughout the programme, you will develop technical and professional skills, including:

  • Designing and analysing mechanical systems and components
  • Understanding materials, manufacturing processes and engineering technologies
  • Developing problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills

Supported by strong industry involvement, the course also offers the opportunity to gain valuable placement experience, helping prepare you for careers in mechanical engineering and progression towards chartered status.

Work Placement Information
A work placement year is an optional part of your degree and is normally completed during your studies, before your final year. If you are interested in undertaking a placement, you should discuss this with your Course Director once you start your degree programme. Please note that you will need to apply for a visa extension and pay an additional placement year tuition fee. Details of placement year fees can be found on the page.

If UKVI approval is not received in time for the advertised intake, you will be notified within a reasonable timeframe, and your place will automatically be deferred to the next available intake.
