Once you have been issued with a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) statement, please follow the advice from the University’s Admissions team to apply for your Student visa as soon as possible.Ìý It may take up to 3-4 weeks to receive a decision on your visa application.Ìý You may be advised by the University to apply for a Priority visa or Super Priority visa as a condition of your CAS, to obtain a quicker decision on your visa application.

As part of the Student visa process, you may be required to attend a credibility interview. These interviews are conducted to ensure students have genuine intentions to study in the UK.ÌýTo help you prepare, you can view guidance on what to expect and useful tips for a successful interview in document ‘’.

Under the terms of Student visas, sponsored students are usually permitted to work a maximum of 20 hours per week during term-time.Ìý Students can obtain a Confirmation of Study letter from the University that confirms the term dates and holiday dates to show to employers.

Please be advised that the University cannot guarantee students will secure part-time work in the UK and it is not the responsibility of the University to source part-time work for its students, however the University’s Career Readiness service can provide support.Ìý The Career Readiness service offers all students support in updating their CV to suit the UK employment market, filtering job vacancy websites, completing online application forms and building interview techniques.Ìý Students can book a 121 appointment with the Career Readiness team via The Hub area of the digital Student Hub.

Whilst you are waiting for your visa application outcome, we recommend making tentative arrangements in securing appropriate accommodation in Lincoln. It can take several weeks to confirm a rent agreement/tenancy contract. It is a condition of your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you must live in Lincoln – you will not be permitted to live elsewhere in the UK.

On-campus accommodation
International students joining in January 2026 will receive their first three months of accommodation FREE, from 19 January – 10 April 2026.

There are different options for living on-campus in furnished student accommodation. Students can choose to live in Wickham Hall or in the Student Village. Rent prices range from £123-£204.75 per week and rent includes all services and bills such as water, electricity and wi-fi.

On-campus rooms are popular, therefore, please contact the University’s Accommodation team on [email protected] as soon as possible to start making your accommodation enquiries. Rooms will become reserved very quickly.

Off-campus accommodation
If you prefer to stay in a property off-campus, there are many student accommodation options available near the University. We advise searching for accommodation located in the ‘uphill’ or ‘Ermine’ areas of the city to make your daily walk to the University as quick and easy as possible.
Similar to on-campus accommodation, private (or off-campus) student accommodation is usually furnished and the cost of services and bills such as water, electricity and wi-fi is normally included in the cost of the rent.

Remember to choose accommodation in Lincoln and that once you have signed a tenancy agreement/accommodation contract that agreement/contract is legally binding. Please be prepared to provide the name and address of a UK-based rent guarantor or pay rent upfront as part of the agreement/contract process.

Household items
Student accommodation is usually provided furnished.Ìý This means you can expect the accommodation will have basic items of furniture such as a bed, a desk and chair, a space to store clothes and a minimum level of cooking and storing food in a kitchen.Ìý However, each student will need to provide their own bed linen for their bed, towels for bathing and crockery and cooking utensils for the kitchen.Ìý We recommend acquiring these household items upon arrival.Ìý Students can purchase household items in advance of their arrival via the website the University has partnered with – BGU students can receive 10% off the price of their order when entering promotional code BISHOPG10 at the checkout.

As soon as you have received your visa and have your passport returned, please book your flight to the UK ensuring you arrive at the UK border between the dates of your visa’s validity and in time to enrol on to your programme.Ìý Please share a copy of your flight reservation with the University via CAS shield and retain your boarding passes for your enrolment appointment at the University.

Please expect to travel within the UK to reach Lincoln from your destination airport.Ìý Lincoln is situated approximately 2.5-3 hours away (by road or rail) from the major destination airports in London and Manchester.Ìý Most students reach the University by train, and you can book your train tickets in advance – remember to choose a train that departs approximately 3 hours after you arrive to leave sufficient time to pass through the UK border and collect your luggage.Ìý You can view train timetables and buy train tickets from links embedded within our webpage.

Each student will be contacted by email from the University’s Admissions team articulating the date, time and location of their in-person enrolment appointment. You will need to bring all identity documents, health and education certificates, and visa documents to the appointment. Visa documents include providing a share code from the UK Government (UKVI) to allow University staff to see your eVisa. Please also provide evidence of your arrival date by showing flight reservations and boarding passes. You will be asked to confirm your Lincoln address and personal email and mobile phone number. You will also be required to meet with the University’s Tuition Fees Officer to discuss payment of any remaining tuition fees.

Upon successfully enrolling as a student at the University, you will be issued with a student identity card which will allow you access to the University buildings and lecture rooms.

Undergraduate students will be encouraged to attend an in-person academic induction session with their lecturers. Information about the academic induction session will be provided by the Admissions team alongside the information regarding the enrolment appointment. Academic induction sessions are a great way to meet your lecturers, fellow classmates and learn more about the programme.
Postgraduate students will receive their academic induction as part of the first timetabled sessions (first lectures).

International students receive a bespoke induction programme guiding each student through the busy arrival and orientation period.Ìý The programme tells you what mandatory and suggested activities to complete before, during and after arrival, as well as signposting students to helpful videos and further reading. Students will receive a copy of their induction programme approximately 2-4 weeks prior to arrival.

Induction event

One of the key events within the induction programme is the in-person induction event for all international students.Ìý This event aids your adjustment to life in the UK and at the University and allows you to meet other students experiencing a similar arrival process as you, maybe even an opportunity to connect with other students from your home country or community.

The international student induction welcomes students to the University, guides them through those first responsibilities such as setting up a UK bank account and registering with a local doctor.Ìý It’s also an opportunity to learn how to navigate around physical and digital facilities.Ìý The International Office at the University will provide students with a campus tour, showing key buildings and first lecture rooms.Ìý Students will also learn how to connect their devices to, and navigate around, the different digital applications that the University uses (such as University email, timetables, and programme content), so international students are digitally ready ahead of their first lectures.

The international student induction event is a key date for international students to start to feel part of the University’s community.

We strongly advise that you pay your remaining fee from your home country as soon as you receive your visa and before you travel to the UK. Settling all due payments prior to arrival will allow you to focus on your studies and to enjoy your student life. Without paying your tuition fees, you may not receive your timetable and may have restrictions applied to your university facilities.

Setting up your eVisa account:

You can set up your eVisa as soon as your visa isÌýgranted. You should create your UKVI online accountÌýbefore arriving in the UK. This ensures you can manage your digital immigration status without delays.

Steps to Take:

1. Access Your eVisa:ÌýCreate a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account to access your eVisa ()

Ensure your personal details and the passport you will use for travel are correctly linked to your UKVI account. ()

2. Verify Your eVisa Details:ÌýUse the ‘View and Prove Your Immigration Status’ service to confirm that your immigration status is displayed correctly and that you have permission to travel to the UK.

The University wishes you to have the best possible student experience: an arrival that answers your questions as well as events and activities that help you settle into your studies and make friends.Ìý We strongly advise that you attend the University’s arrival and induction activities, and you attend your lectures from day one in order to have the best possible academic outcome. ÌýTo enjoy the full student experience, you need to arrive at the University no later than your programme start date.

However, we recognise that for matters beyond your control, some students have difficult arrivals and arrive late.Ìý If you think you are likely to arrive late to the University, you must notify the University’s International Office as soon as possible ([email protected]).Ìý For students arriving beyond the last date of enrolment (as stipulated on their CAS), the University reserves the right to cancel sponsorship and your enrolment onto your programme will be denied.
