This three-term programme provides an intensive combination of more advanced subject-specific content with the opportunity to develop language and academic study skills, while studying business management modules. The International Year Two (IY2) programme at UBIC has been designed to help international students transition into the final year of an undergraduate degree programme with the University of Bradford
This three-term programme provides an intensive combination of more advanced subject-specific content with the opportunity to develop their language and academic study skills.
Upon successful completion of the IY2, you will continue to the final year of BSc (Hons) Business and Management at the University of Bradford.
Please note: Students progressing from the International Year Two will not be eligible for ACCA exam exemptions, as the module combination in this pathway does not include the accounting modules required for exemption. Course modules
This module equips international students with the academic English and study skills needed for success in the final year of a UK Business and Management degree. It supports confident communication across all four skills and builds competence in reading academic texts, writing extended assignments, and presenting ideas clearly. Students develop research, referencing and critical thinking skills through business-related tasks aligned with Level 6 expectations. The module promotes independent learning, academic integrity and intercultural awareness, ensuring students are ready for final-year study and future professional contexts.
This module introduces students to key concepts in entrepreneurship and employability, focusing on the development of entrepreneurial thinking, opportunity recognition and personal career planning. It equips international students with the knowledge and reflective skills needed to understand business innovation and navigate the global job market. The module also builds students’ academic and critical thinking skills through structured small-group learning, aligned with the IY2 focus on transition and progression to final-year undergraduate study. This module introduces students to the legal and ethical frameworks that shape decision-making in business. It explores how laws and regulations affect organisations and individuals, and how ethical considerations influence behaviour and policy. The module is particularly relevant for international students aiming to understand UK and global business law, while also developing their ability to reason ethically and reflect critically on complex issues. The module also builds students’ academic and critical thinking skills through structured small-group learning, aligned with the IY2 focus on transition and progression to final-year undergraduate study. (20 Credits)
This module introduces students to the key functions and strategic role of Human Resource Management (HRM). It equips international students with a foundation in HRM theory and practice to prepare them for final-year undergraduate study in Business and Management. The module also builds students’ academic and critical thinking skills through structured small-group learning, aligned with the IY2 focus on transition and progression to final-year undergraduate study. (20 Credits)
This module introduces students to the core principles of marketing strategy with a focus on digital tools, platforms and consumer behaviour in a globalised world. It supports international students in developing practical marketing knowledge alongside academic and professional communication skills. The module reflects contemporary business challenges and equips students with the ability to plan, justify and present marketing strategies using evidence and digital media. It also supports progression to final-year undergraduate study through structured tasks and critical engagement with marketing theory. (20 Credits)
This module introduces students to quantitative approaches used in business decision-making and forecasting. It equips international students with the analytical tools and techniques required to interpret data, model future trends and support evidence-based strategy. The focus on applied numeracy, critical thinking and problem-solving aligns with the IY2 programme’s emphasis on progression to final-year study. Through structured exercises and real-world datasets, students build the skills to analyse uncertainty and deliver informed business recommendations. (20 Credits)
