Course Overview
Through applied learning, students explore key areas such as business operations, organisational behaviour, global business environments and responsible leadership. Real-world case studies and collaborative projects help develop analytical skills, critical thinking, problem-solving and professional skills that are valued by employers. Successful completion provides a pathway to Year 2 of a range of business-related degree programmes at Sheffield Hallam University.

Course modules
This module This module develops the academic English language, communication and study skills required for successful participation in undergraduate business programmes at Sheffield Hallam University. It supports your transition into UK higher education by building confidence and competence in academic reading, writing, speaking and listening within a business and management context.nnThe module is designed to run alongside core business modules and is fully contextualised to your specialist studies. You will develop the academic conventions, language accuracy and critical skills required to engage with business texts, contribute to seminars, produce written畚oursework畝nd deliver presentations aligned to Level 4 expectations. (20 credits)
This module introduces you to the global and contemporary contexts within which organisations operate. It develops awareness and understanding of the external forces shaping business decision-making, including globalisation, geopolitics, sustainability, ethics and economic change. The module introduces you to the key analytical tools and frameworks used to examine and evaluate the impact of contemporary global issues on organisations across sectors and regions. Through engagement with real-world case material and current business debates, you are supported to develop critical awareness of the challenges and opportunities facing organisations in an interconnected global environment.
This module explores how organisations respond to contemporary technological, cultural and organisational change. It focuses on the internal organisational implications of digital transformation, changing work practices and evolving communication channels. You will examine how technology, data and innovation are reshaping organisational structures and workplace cultures. You will be encouraged to give critical consideration of how organisations manage technological change responsibly and ethically and develop an understanding of how organisations adapt to ongoing change and prepare for the future of work in a rapidly evolving business landscape. (20 credits)
This module supports you as you begin your business management studies by developing the professional behaviours and skills required for success at university and in future employment. It introduces you to the world of work by engaging with scenarios commonly faced by business professionals. The module emphasises personal development, reflective practice and the cultivation of a growth mindset and resilience.
This module provides an essential foundation for further study in business and management by developing understanding of how organisations are structured, how they operate responsibly and sustainably, and how key business functions contribute to organisational success. You will explore marketing, supply chain and operations management and be encouraged to consider the impact of organisational activity on society, the environment and stakeholders. Youll develop practical business skills, including the use of digital tools such as spreadsheets to support basic business analysis and decision-making. (20 credits)
